The sun shines ...the sky is clear blue and just a a couple of degrees cold...
I can feel it....
Spring is on its way!!!! :)

And I have spent some hours in my sewingroom... and actually sewed...lol
Oh Happy Days!!

Last week I did some shopping... have looked for pink and brown repro fabrics...
So thankyou Kathie for the tip to this shop!!

I have started to collect something new here...
Now I only need to find shirtings... and maybe some blues and greens and...you got the point ...do you... :D

Bought a new book...and I love this one...
...it´s a Norweigan book (but mine is in swedish) by Gerd Gellein Merkesdal...
and it have so many lovely things for me to make ...

Today I got threads in the mail...
...from Karen at Farmhouse Woolens...

some new threads for me...so this will be exciting...
Thankyou so much Karen!!! >:D<

And I have sewn my "Bunny Tales" quilttop together... :)
Hope to start some stitching on it soon!!
Will have to wait to take photos of that one...until I have stiched some...

Had the strangest day...

yesterday...
...and its kind of scary... at least for me... #:-S
I was on my way home from town yesterday... and needed to buy some honey (cant be without in my tea...) and decided to buy this at a supermarket on my way...
And suddenly I knew someting was going to happened to me...or to the car... so I thought better not stop there...
but hey... cant let my thoughts decide..cant I...so I drove to the parking lot...
And what happens!!!!
I was hit by a car... a sweet old lady... just backed right at me...
she never ever saw me in my big black Volvo... and I can say... against white snow...Im pretty visible!!
Nothing happened to anyone of us...glad for that... nothing much on our car...more on hers...
Is this scary or what... PHEEEWWW....
Better start listening a little bit more from now on!!
Think someone is keeping an eye on me... :)

Had a wonderful weekend ...saw the fantastic movie "Australia"...
it was an emotional rollercaster for me...
lauging...crying... worrying..more crying...
But I loved it... :)

Spent some hours in the sewingroom...
but Im almost afraid of beeing in there... knowing I want to be there much more than I can right now...so Im avoiding it...;)

Started something blue and pink....
...and started on a wallhanging...
"Bunny Tales"
with the fabrics I was going to use for my NPNT quilt... but they are so "springlike" so I needed to use them for this one!!
But the blocks is pretty big for me... not used to this... ;)
...and made my fourth block in Wool Garden BOM... and I did it again... ;)
...I changed the colours... I needed a pink Geranium... :)

Hope you all have had a good weekend...
I sure had...
and so had my boys too...pretty tired after a long weekend with tennis...
but oh so much fun they had had!!

Today it is a fantastic day... :)
The sun is warm...SNOW is melting...
Oh HAPPY days!!! :)

February 20, 2009

Cold snow....

We have had very cold days for some weeks now...
around -20 C and lower...
went out and took some photos the other day...and the snow is so cold that you easily can see the shapes of the stars...
...pretty amazing...
...it is all white and fluffy....
...my backyard right now...
no tennis practising at the wall... :)
but I guess it will come...
And definetly no signs of spring...not even close...

Home alone ... (almost)
the guys is on tenniscamp... son as a participant and DH as a cook and physio trainer...
Middle daughter is at home to keep me company...
we are going to the movies tomorrow...
and see "Australia"...it is showing for the last days here...
And after that I hope I can get into a sewingmood!!!
Have a great weekend... :)

Fusible webbing...

This is driving me crazy!!!!! :#

I want a fusible webbing that dont do like this...
...this is the kind of webbing we have in Sweden...it is called Vliesofix...
and it works super when it is fresh and not rolled one or two times
( when going to classes or something like that)...
but after a couple of times the layers start to separate from each other and you have to pin everything together...and not to mention how fiddling it is when you are supposed to iron it on fabric!!!
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

So please give me some suggestions to other brands that don´t behave like this!!!!
Tell me what you use...please...!! :)

Last night I started to fiddle with my "Wool Garden" blocks...
and finally, I have these three finished.... :)
...so now I have some blocks prepared for prim stitching.... ohhh I love those stitches...
Found a perfect pair of scissors ( in my drawer...:)
...to cut the wool with and it saves my hand too...
totally forgot I had this one... bought it when I sewed my frayed quilt...
so it is good to look through the drawers from time to time... :)

Had another ....Aarrrrggghhhh...moment today...
When I went to the postoffice to send two quilttops for a Bushfire project...I found out that my creditcard had been exposed for skimming... and was blocked... :@
Dont people have something sensible to do instead!!
Sigh....
Hope the rest of the day will go smoothly... :)

Two finishes...

How did that happen??? ;)
Hard work... ;) (not) and some willpower and most of all my longing for sewing!!

and today I finished it ...and Kris you were so right ..it was a perfect little job for my finger ...think I managed it without too much strain!!
Thanks for thinking of me... :L
So here is my version ...
with a little spring colours...
Im so happy ...to finally get something done around here...

whooa... wait I have another finish.... :)
Finished with the little quilt I got fabrics for from Kathie
So this is how my version of it became...
Can you see ...that those flowers look just like snowflakes... if not ...use your imagination...lol..
Can you tell I´m pretty pleased with myself.. :)
And best of all...
just a little sewing have made me feel so much better...
Ok ...the finger is still bothering me...
but my mood is better!! :)

Still speechless....

For one and a half week ago I received a little slip from the customs that I had a package from USA and that they wanted me to pay a customs fee for it...
Hmmm...
What on earth was this... I definetly hadn´t ordered anything...
And I cant pay a fee not knowing who its from...
So I made some research... :)
And Yes... I did know that person who sent the package...
a very sweet and fantastic quilter from Florida... :d

But why at customs... dangerous goods maybe... nah...not from this person...
It was too high value... for a gift... we are allowed to receive gifts for 500 Swedish kr... and have to pay a fee for the amount over that...
So I decided to explain THAT THIS WAS A GIFT...and please be nice... :y
...and it took its time... I have waited ...and waited...
Mailed to this wonderful person ...so she would know it was in Sweden ...but not at my place!!!
Just lying at the post office without no one to take care of it... in the dark... ;)
Can you belive me when I say ...that this have been driving me crazy...
And to make it even worse...this person said to me....
THINK BLUE!!!
Can you feel it...my frustration... :#
And so one day ...
...I could pick up the package ...without fee... so thanks for that..
Ahhh... and it was a big package... :)
...very well packed... a lot of plastic bags in there... had to check them all...if it was something hiding in them...but nothing there...
...and so I got to the bottom... and there...something... a card...
from Karen ( Log Cabin Quilter)...
What on earth have she done now?????
oh my gosh...my hands were shaky ...and started to cry even before I saw what it was...
from the bottom of the package I lifted up this bundle...
...I told you I was and still are speechless!!!!
This is what it was in the package...
and I can tell you I would have payed whatever fee for this beauty!!!
"Blue Jug Summer"

Karen.... I´m so overwhelmed by this gift from you ...think I have to sit just to talk about it...
A lot of tears have fallen ...happy ones ... of course!!
And if you were closer I had come right over to give you a BIG HUG!!!
Thankyou ...Thankyou!!! :L
for my fantstic blue surprise....
It is up on the wall in my livingroom...
and I who have longed for flowers...
now I can see some everyday!! :)
Perfect!!!

My January finishes...

Totally forgot to show my finishes for January...
So just a quick post ... :)
to show May Britt and Kris that I havent totally forgotten my manners!!!

Have made so many of these little pillows from Lynette Andersons pattern " A trio of Greetings" ... and for Colleen I just had to try another way to use it...
so I made a little wallhanging from scraps ...
...and a little pincushion too...

And here comes another little pillow ...yepp the same pattern.. ;)
but for Linda this time...
and for this one I just had to try another colour... :)
Think this one was my seventh... must take a break with them...lol...
but they are so fun to make!!!!
EDIT: Still behaving...these gifts were made before my finger went crazy again... :)

Tomorrow I hope I will have a little finish for February!!!!! :)

Three more days left at worktraining...
after that I hope for some rest for the finger and me...
But who knows what will happen???

Take care out there in the big big world...

February 8, 2009

Still here...

Dont know how my days can just be... nothing...
Have been pretty good in doing nothing... :)
and I can tell you its boring...!!!
And not so much sewing except for the sewing Im doing at worktraining...
and to my 15 minutes of joy at evening...
Really trying to be a GOOD GIRL!!!
So havent so much to share...
Last weekend I started to clean up in my messy sewingroom... and in my bedroom...had to rearrange my things since my DH wanted to have his keyboard by the window where I had my old sewingmachine...
And this is what I came up with...
...and for the sewingroom...dont know how it could have been messy at all...since Im not spending so much time there... maybe thats why... just dumping things all over...
So it have taken me a quite a few evenings...
Think its getting better for every day now... soon finished...

And when a girl cant sew...what does she do...
look in magazines... see some wonderful things... so she shops some... :)
these I have been wanting to test...but havent... ordered them...but still havent tried them...
you see..Im still behaving and beeing a good girl... :)
And I fell for another BOM ...so I ordered this one from Karen at her shop Farm House Woolens
and they are sooo lovely... long til I can start to stitch them...
...thought I would have prepared them this weekend... but it was not... have been fiddeling with nothing instead... :)
And yesterday... I ordered some nice new fabrics... before I changed my mind!! :)

Have tried out some quilting on my Little stretched Star quilt... just working on a couple of blocks per day... so Im getting closer for a finish ...have 4 blocks undone...
Wooohhoooo for me!! :)

Having my last week at worktraining...and I hope it will work out just fine...
last week I sewed a potholder and a tea cozy...
...they are sewed with recycled fabrics... curtains and fabrics like that...
think I looked at all the pink stuf I could find!!! :)
Potholder was already at the shop when I took my lousy photo with my cell phone...but I think you get a hint of what I do during my days... :)
Having quite fun!!
But slow fun!!!!
Have a great week out there...
Thinking of you Australians ...and hope they get them fires under control!!

Since I´m not sewing or do anything crafty at all...
I can show you what my talented friend Louise is up to...

This is her January finish...
isn´t it lovely... :)
The log cabin blocks will always look nice together whatever fabrics you use...
and this version with blue/purple and cream/white fabrics is so nice...
..... Mmmmm ...it would look great in pink feedsack don´t you think... ;)
I need to make myself a log cabin quilt!!!
Someday... :)

This is a quilt she made this summer...correct me if Im wrong here Louise...
It is made from a Jelly Roll and a Charm Pack...
Love the "springish" colours in this one...
handquilted with fans all over...
a little beauty!!

Hope Louise will provide me with some more finishes during the months from now on...so I have something to show you... :)
