I´m slow...

yepp... you read everything right..;O)

I´m slow...

But at least now I know why...

This last year have been a struggle to just be...

My tiredness, all the ache and pain, the swollen fingers

and the most dreadful thing.. not wanting to do anything...

and the freezing!

It all have come clear now..

I have HYPOTHYROIDISM...

My body have shut down and it aint functioning without thyroid...

so Im SLOW..:O)

Started medication last week and will now look forward to

gain some strength...

No fast miracles as it takes some time to fill up the levels...and get it right...

but within a year... huh... I might be lucky..:O))

So please see to that I dont jump on any challenges...

because I will probably not finish them...

For me 2012 will be a year just doing something!!

Like lighting some candles...

Enjoying prettiness...

Be thankful for little things like fresh baked scones

and a lovely cup of Chai tea...

Well this is what I came up with...

Christmas Pincushion tutorial...the last one..:O)

Finally..

here it comes the last instructions for the pincushion...:o)

Cut a 1 3/4" x about 23" strip

*Sew this strip to the side of the pincushion...

(havent figured out the length of the stip... time..flies...:O)

But I did like this...

I started a little bit in on the strip ..sewed almost until the end...

pinned the ends together...

*then I sewed the ends together...

*Split the seam and continue to

sew the opening shut...

Now it should look like a little hat..:O)

Inside...

Outside...

*Use Template C to cut out a bottom

( you can use a a fusible interface here if you want a sturdy bottom)

*Pin the bottom evenly around the pincushion..

start with four pins and add more...

*Use the rest of the ric rac...

lay it between the layers...

start a little bit in on the ric rac...

You can see on the picture that the top of the ric rac is just

touching the outer edge of the side of the pincushion...

*Tuck the ric rac in while sewing....and

keep on sewing like this until the end...

tuck the ends in and continue sewing the opening shut.

*Make an innerbag in some scrap fabric...

( wont show)

(use template C ... make it a seam allowance smaller)

*Fill the innerbag with some filling..

(walnut shells...rice or something with weight)

*Sew the opening shut on the machine...

dont bother to turn ...raw ends out..;O)

Turn the pincushion inside out...

tuck the innerbag inside..

and start filling the pincushion with polyester fill..

nice and firm..!!!!

And sew the opening shut by hand..

Nicer that way!!!

And voila.. FINISHED!!!!

There you have a new pincushion just in time for Christmas!!!:O))

Christmas Pinchushion

part two

Close up again..;O))

Now it´s time to prepare the stitchery for the applique

I did try first with just to needle turn the stitchery to the pincushion

So I show some pictures of that first if some one wants to do that.

(Needle turn method)

I used my lightboard to center and to see

that the stitchery become the right size

Then I used the needleturn method to

stitch it to the top of pincushion..

but when finished I wanted to add some ric rac ...

so I ripped it up...;O)))

HAH...can´t do anything right from the beginning..LOL...

Picture below shows the stitchery added with needle turn..

see....it needs something more..:O)

So ...of course I forgot to take some pictures

of the next step...

bummer...

Lazy method..;O)

Do like this:

Make templates

(You find them here)

Template B in cardboard (cereal package)

Template A and C in freezer paper

*Use Template A (freezerpaper) to center the stitchery

and cut around the outer line of the freezerpaper.

*Peel the freezer paper away and thread a needle

and make a running stitch in outer edge

and lay the cardboard template in the middle

and pull the thread to gather the stitches around the template.

Did you get a nice and round stitchery???

Hope so..:O)

*Press it carefully to keep it´s form and take out the template...

*Start adding the ric rac with leaving a little tail in the beginning

and just tuck the ric rac in while sewing around the stitchery

when coming to the end...overlap the two ends nice and end the seam.

Now it should look like this..:O)

*Use template C (freezer paper)...

center it on the top of pincushion

and cut around the outer edge of template...

Here we go...

A Christmas Pincushion!!!!

Promise I will show more of it later..;O)

Hope you will try and make one...

This is my version...
or the Christmas Style one!!!

(made one earlier that I havent showed on my blog just on Rosalie Quinlans blog)

But I love it so much and decided to share how to make one with you!!

You will need this:

* 20 scrap pieces ...around 2 1/2" big

(I used 10 different and 10 same)

*Strip 2"x 24"

*and 8" x 8" piece of fabric

*some ric rac ( around one meter)

and some scraps for the innerbag

And of course the stitchery..:O)

5 x 5"piece of for for the stitchery

interfacing

and dark red DMC thread

*First you have to make the stitchery...

Download the stitchery here... or at my sidebar.

*I used a white piece of cotton about 5"x5" big

*Dark red DMC thread

and I sewed with two strands

*Prepare the cotton with some kind of fusible interface before stitching

I used a hoop but can easily be sewn with out...

Fabrics:

I used Mary Engelbreits Isn´t Christmas Jolly?

If you have a Dresden ruler use it

and cut out 2 1/2" wedges

if not you can use my template..

download them here ...

You will need

*10 red/white check pieces

*10 other pieces of your choice

Thread your machine and start sewing!! :o)

*Pair the wedges up

(Checkered fabric at the bottom/ print on top)

I have used a 1/4" seam allowance

Chain piece all the pieces

*Cut them apart and fingerpress against

the red checked fabric

*Continue to sew into larger parts...

two by two into a four piece

Fingerpress against the red checked fabric

(I wanted the red checked fabric to stand out a bit)

*Continue to sew the parts together until you

have a nice and flat circle

*Press it carefully...dont use so much steam...

Well I think I have done enough with my thumb right now

so I will be back with part two later...;O)

Paper Hearts Tutorial

Hello again...:O)

I´m just feeling sooo giving ....

so after several questions on how to make my cute paper hearts for the little Christmas tree...

I decided to make a little HOW TO make them...

Step 1:

*Find a book...

(not to old, because then the paper will brake when folding the hearts)

For one heart you will need:

*Your Sewing machine...

*A template (just draw a heart out on a piece of paper the size you want)

* Three pieces of paper for the heart

* One wooden pearl ( or whatever you wish..:O)

*Stack the three pieces on top of each other

with the template on top...

Step 2:

*Cut out the heart using scissors

(don´t mark...it will not look good with pencil marks)

Never mind if it becomes a little uneven...

handcraft ..you know..;O)

Step 3:

*Thread your machine with the desired thread

( I used white)

*Draw out some start thread

(enough for making the hanging loop)

*Set your needle in down position

*Line the three layer hearts against the needle

*Lower the pressure foot

*Start sewing

(I used 2.2 stitch length)

*Stop at the end of heart

Step 4:

*Draw out the heart so some thread will follow

(you will need this to thread the pearl)

Step 5:

*Now it should look like this.. :o)

Step 6:

*Thread the end threads with a needle that goes

in the hole of your pearl...

*Decide what length your pearl will hang

*Sew up and down through the hole twice and knot the thread off.

(Tie well)

*Make a hanging loop of the starting thread...

*Fold out the bottom and top heart a little bit

And voila..

*Finished...:O)

Make lots and hang in your tree!!! :O)

Third Advent...

Already Third Advent...pheew...

Last Sunday I had a golden moment opening my gifts

from Louise and Marica...

And I wasn´t sorry this time either...:o)

Pink dotty tape measure from Marica...:o)

and white washed letters spelling JUL ( Christmas) from Louise...

So so sweet...thanks my friends!!!

Last weekend THE SNOW came...

lots and lots!!!

Can hardly remember the snow coming this late...

first snowman is built!!!

You might remember that I have sent out a Christmas Mystery to my friends in Norway... May Britt and Hanne... and to my Swedish friends Marica and Louise...

Christmas is coming closer and closer and here in Sweden we are

decorating for the first Advent...

Havent started YET...

only little...;o)

making some decorations for the door... a christmas wreath...

and some decoration for a small tree...

After work tomorrow...

all the boxes will be drawn out for

A MERRY MERRY DECORATION DAY...:O)

This year I had BIG BIG intensions (as always)

of keeping the tradition of advents gifts for my friends...

but gosh how lousy shops there are around here!!!!

UGH!!!

So I did something else...

did draw something instead...

packed in little bags and sent off!!!

Have been catching up and believe me or not...

I have DELETED blogs on my reader...

there is no way I can keep up with whats happening...

Have sorted out and stored some of my retro fabrics in boxes...

with a lot of help from my big helper..

but they have to wait!

Yesterday...

Me and Molly was out on a early morning walk..

and I just realized I might have to keep her leashed until it all freezes..

It was sooo tempting to run out and scare some birds!! :o)

Worked with my oranges...

which was FUN... :o)

But I worked Toooo fast for my own good...

having Dad ill right in the middle of this quilts birth...

and a deadline to keep..

so I delivered this quilt to my friend Åsa who had her birthday last Sunday ...

Unfinished... or kind of.. :o)

Even the photos came out blurry so You have to live with that

.. or just scroll pass them..lol..

The pattern is a Cheri Saffiote Payne pattern (Again) :O)

from the magazine Primitive Quilts....

I used velvet to the pumpkin

manchester to the flower centers...

added a Happy Birthday text instead of the original text

and here comes the OOOPPPSS!!!!

Forgot to add the berries!!!!

Stupid me...

And all the time while sewing the binding on.. I talked to myself... remember the buttons.. remember the buttons!!!!

So when Åsa packed up her gift I didnt see it( nor she) either.. but after a while when sitting there drinking tea...

An orange fix....

never thought I´d start to love orange...

but I have had some orange days over here...

maybe it´s the Autumn... ;o)

So I have started a new little project...

orange strips and neutrals....

and some flowers...

otherwise days are back to some sort of normal here

...dad gave us a real scare and have been at hospital for chest and leg pain..

he is back home but...BUT...

cant say that Im relieved... :o/

still something wrong...

Will have to keep an extra eye on him...

Days are getting shorter and shorter here.. dark evenings...

and a black dog ain´t that easy to keep an eye on...

guess it will be easier once the snow is here .. yuck...

That was a little from me...

must say I´d rather would have been with Leanne Beasley in Vietnam and "Imagine"...:O)

A Time To Sew...

So far it´s a secret....but in a day or two...

Ahhhhhhhh.... Thought I would be finished by now... But NOT!!!

Have the flowers webbed to the little quilt... And working with scraps... you know... You never know what happens... So I added orange ... Not so often used in my quilts...;0)

So I'm trying to get used to it.. And I think I like it..:0)

Otherwise days passes by...

Tomorrow I try to get back to work again and hope my back and hip don't mess with me so much!!! Lots of physio right now... But it's ok...:0)

I have done the quilting on Butterfly Garden...

Hooray!!

And I must say.. I had totally forgotten how wonderful it was to quilt on my Horizon...

I am amazed...

not a single thread breakage...no mishappening..

no nothing... just PURE fun!!

So I do have a quilt finished!!!

weather is brilliant today.. no rain...just some lovely sunshine!!

While working on the quilt...

I had company...but this time she enjoyed the sewing

much more.. and could relax on her new bed...

I made it from old jeans and old crocheted table cloths and

filled it with millions of "foamballs"...

dont know the right word for it!! :o)

Works Super!!

Thirdly ...

I looked into my scrap bin...

and decided it was time to use them up a little..

So a new project is started..:O)

Hopefully... it will be something to show soon...

not three weeks away..but soon!!! :o)

Chiropractor tomorrow...and a quilt to deliver...

I FORGOT TO POST!!!!

It´s SUMMER...:O)

And I am LAZY!!

So I said it.. lol

Have spent lovely days at my parents place...

family get-together ...

my brothers with their families and my cousins from France ..

in a total of 23 people..

Yepp ... people everywhere ...and I mean it.. :o)

And I love it!!

We introduced Molly to the cows...

Wonder who were most curios?

One day we cousins spent a day together...

walking, picnicking and bathing...

It was a wonderful day!!!

Molly really loved it when it was so many people...

always someone to play with...

and this day ... to dig and to bath ..

that was FUN!!!

Family Days are the best!!!

Are now back at my home...

and have spent some hours in my sewing room...

and have my Butterfly Garden quilt top together in one piece...

hip hip hooray for me!!

This quilt is more green than the first BG quilt I made....

Really love the green tone....

Now I just have to layer it.. and quilt it...;o)

and off to it´s new owner...

Hmmm....

dont know If I love this one more than the first one made..lol...

I have sewn.. but oh I thought that I would have lots of other things made..

So I had a weekend of my own... Molly and me...

guys playing tennis and camping!!

Oh.. a sewing weekend and I were going to introduce Molly to the UPSTAIRS...

HAH....HUH.. HEEE...

It became an ELDORADO....for Molly.. :o)

(and me running back and forth yelling NO all the time..;O)

But.. it took me a whole weekend to complete.. but

a block is done for

Kaaren... :o)

And finally a puppy and a quilter can relax ...

Roses....

First of all ..

A big bunch of roses to my daughter and boyfriend..

for the lovely dinner they made for us last week...

Prosciotto ham, melon and mozzarella...

Salad, homemade potato salad.. yummy...

grilled pork or and chicken....

and lovely Panacotta desert...

It was all so good...

Thankyou sweethearts!!

It was very much appreciated..

hope this was a new tradition..;o)

Heavy rains in the middle of June...

made me realize I needed new rubber boots...

(got kind of wet on one foot..:o)

And lookilook...

I got PINK ones!!! :o)

And talk about ROSES...

Miss Molly..she loves to pick flowers...;o)

Thats why I decided..

no flowers this year...lol..

And she really have an eye for the pink roses...

they must be tasty..:O)

And just to show you that I am doing something crafty...

I crocheted myself a little rose to wear..

( Yes Molly likes this one too..;o)

And hooray.. I have finished all stitcheries on Butterfly Garden...

Hope to start to sew it all together soon...

Been home today with horrible headaches..

too little sleep...

Cutie Pie have been sick two days

( note: dont eat rubbish and squirrels)

so there havent been so much sleep...

lot of night walks...:O)

Ok we have had all kind of weather.. sunny and warm days and already had our share of rain for June...

So happy to have the PIF gifts sent and received...

so so happy I could make something and send!!

I recycled old tea towels and old tablecloths, cross stitched and stamped on fabric and just played around

to make gifts my PIF Girls...

It was FUN...

and I actually sewed some ... felt like ages and so it was!

Ahh...

Time really do fly away...

Lots have happened here while I havent been around in Blogland...

Firstly

My guys came home from a wonderful Mallorca trip...

They had a wonderful time...

lots of training.. but as you see lots of other fun things...

while they were away I was sick..

hah.. no surprise to me...

but what do a girl do then..

While My guys were enjoying themselves at Mallorca...

My Mother and I took a little trip...

So how this all happened..

Im not really sure of.. but suddenly we are with a new baby and last week she came...

A puppy for Viktor... an early birthdaygift...

Oh how Viktor have longed.. he have daydreamed... and borrowed books and read everything..and LONGED...

and suddenly she came...

...Molly...

but ... as you know...

Puppies aint all that sweet all the time...

So she got a nick name

Monster Molly pretty quick..lol..

She really have given us some good laughs...

Our Miss Molly... :o)

She´s a Mix between

Golden retriever and Labrador Retriever

2 months tomorrow...:o)

Hopefully she will grow up to be a lovely and sweet company for Viktor..

wise and calm...

of my sewing room tour..

Ok where were we...

First corner showed...

When looking more to the left I have the "sewingpart" of the room..

Long room..:O))... but narrow...

and the angled ceiling takes away lots of space..

but thats how it is.. I know I have LOTS of SPACE!!

But I do have a lot of things too..lol...

Some white paint would do magic to the ceiling...

but I think I save that to my next ReDo..:O))

The white desk have become Viktors favorite place to do his homework....

Had a cutting table here before.. but took it away because all that happened was that I piled up everything on that table when coming from downstairs...

NOT GOOD..

Some storage along the wall and a newly made note board

with old doilies...

At the end of this room beside the window...

is where I sit and ponder and hopefully sews something..:o)

Behind the sewing table I have my books and my patterns...

neatly organized now!!!!

My little cutting table made from old boxes that held bulbs of tulips and other spring bulbs before. Stacked on each other, an old table top on top and some baskets.. :o)

Designwall made from a styrofoam board..

just glued to a rod.. and covered with flannel..

Works super!!

Now looking back to the beginning of the room..

I have my fabric cabinet...

Filled with LOTS of fabrics...

the prettier ones high up.. I hardly open the lower doors...

Don´t really know how it happened...

but oh it feels great just to have played with my sewing machine again!!

But I have to tell you.. it must have been a long time since I had sewn..

I didn´t remember how to thread the machine... seriously!!!

Machine is still so new and I havent sewn that much..

so I had to read the instuctions!!!

Well lets say ..

I NEVER EVER HOPE THIS WILL HAVE TO BE DONE AGAIN!!!!

So.. shall we start a tour of my de-cluttered sewing room...

OK..:O)

It all started with me buying a glass cabinet...and having the glorious idea of having it in my sewing-room ...

it was just that I had to reorganize everything to get it in place!!

Silly me!! :o)

But finally after a lot of not so nice words popping out of my mouth...

and the THINKING hat on.. I managed to squeeze it in... :o)

And I love it.. it holds all those things I had all over the room before

and collecting DUST...

Yes I have that in my room...lol..LOTS!!!

Now I can see where everything is...

except for all those little bits that I have stuffed in tins and cant see!!!

Oh.. and there you can see a pretty new little bundle of joy...

BUTTERCUP...

I had the amazing luck in winning it from Fig Tree Quilts and Joanna earlier !!

Looks lovely right!! :o)

Moving to the left I have a little cabinet filled with this and that..

and a little place to show some quilts....

Further to the left I have a guest bed..

So Marica.. if you come some day you have to sleep in another direction...lol

and hope you wont fall out of the bed..;O)

My daughter Linda who is becoming an Librarian....

she´s this happy now... :o)

She´s going to ITALY!!!!!

Congratulations sweetheart!!

Earlier this Spring she searched to FAO´s Internship Programme in Rome, Italy

to work on their Forestry Information Centre..

and she got it!!!

Wow...

I havent even thought of her going even more far away from home...

Im just so happy for her!! :o)

Have had the colds for so long now.. with a sore throat and a running nose!

I work at a Recycle Store...

where we have a Store... where we sell almost everything that comes in given to us by people...

Some things are just sold as they are...but some things we Upcycle or just ReMake...

I work at the Textile Department...

and I work as a Product Developer...

I test ..I sew ...and try to find fun things to do....

mostly for our ReMake products...

Sick of being sick...

Yepp....

You read right...

Sick again..fever and some kind of stomach flu...

BLÄÄÄÄHHHHH!!!

So today I have slept and slept ...

had my TEAS....

and tried to stitch on my Butterfly Garden 2

(didn´t go too well)

And played around with blogger..

tried to Spring clean the blog...:o)

On the afternoon it was the highlight of the day...

March is here...

and it is most welcomed... lighter days...more sun... warmer days...

And do you know what I did this weekend!!!!!

I de-cluttered my sewing room!!!!

Still lots to do.. more things will have to find new places...

but I can see my sewing machine..and hmmm..it is a good thing..:o)

Promised you a picture of a quilt I made for Louise....

Changed plans for my Christmas gift for her.. saves it for next year.. and decided to make her a little quilt instead...

Louise made this quilt for both me and Marica at Christmas...

So I made her another version of it...blue..:o)

Long time no see..

What a winter we have had...pheeww....

Lots of snow..

Strong Cold....

Dark days..

Really have tried to find some peace with winter..

but have to face it..

I hate WINTER!!

Goes to bed early...take herb medicine...

out in the light as often I can.. walk to work...

changed my diet..but

One more month of winter have passed...

Last weekend I had joined Virginia Cole for another Cyber retreat..

had a hard time getting myself to the machine.. but I did..and I managed to sew

Had Chiropractic treatment this Monday...

so I have been puttering around the home doing this and that..

Last Thursday my friend

Kristina lost her fight against cancer...

All my thoughts goes out to her family...

Friendship Baskets...

made from a swap between myself, Marica and Louise...

When we went to Norway last Year.. we decided to swap some miniblocks between us...

one quilt is finished.. and this is the second one...

I chose little baskets... the block is 4 1/2 inch big.. or small..:o)

I made four blocks and in return I received

four from both Louise and Marica...

all soooo lovely...:o))

The blocks have been on my designwall in periods..

and this Autumn I decided it was time for the quilt to get finished..

So I have been picking up pieces of scraps that have whirled on the floor from time to time.. and they have been getting new places each time..:o)

But Now it was TIME.....

And here is my Friendship Basket Quilt...

Think its a sign of Spring..

the first one.. and I´ll stick to that..

It was cold....

- 37 C ( -35 F) one night... brrrr...but

despite that we had a fantastic time at my parents!!

Days just flew by..and suddenly it was time for us to go home...

just like that...

12 days just said ...SWWWIIISSSSCCCHHHHH.... :o)

A lovely Christmas Eve spent with Family..

and I think everyone felt they had been nice this year too..

Rested a few days ..and then Petra and her boyfriend Jimmy came...

( no rest..lol)

and then it was time for the BIG Wii- Contest ...

New games that Viktor had in Santas sack...

Wii Party and Slap shot was played to everyones amusement!

A few more into the games than others..lol...

Then one evening..something "exciting" happened...

lots of noices...like an engine... and lights all over the farm house...

(And I mean this.. my Mum and Dad lives out in the nowhere..

no lights at all.. no other houses... just alone...

so the light show and the sounds were a bit odd...:o)

we all rushed out in -25C (-13F) no outer clothing ... and gosh..

a helicopter was hoovering all over the place...

-what I thought.. bankrobbers... the police... ???

(too many movies I think...;o)

But a helicopter it was.. and it emergency landed right there on the farm..

So out in the cold with camera!!! ;o)

Had one day out.. otherwise we were mostly inside...

by the fire and played games and just had

a very nice time with family!!!

So nice to catch up with oldest daughter a bit...

today she is traveling back to the south of Sweden again... :o(

spent with my brothers family ..until we had to go home ..

a little calf was to be born... so the cow needed to be looked for.

We melted tin this year too...

and prophesied how the new year would be...

A bit of fun..

I always gets boats...

every year.. and still I havent been on a boat somewhere..

maybe this year..:o))

So this is what I have been up to....

..Time Flies..

Hope you are more prepared for Christmas than I am... :o)

But I guess it will be Christmas... with our without gifts...

will try to feel happy about that!!

I finally finished my task for school.. to make something with the dyed fabrics we made earlier this Autumn.. and to make something with the stack n slash technique...

I started out to make some Churn dash blocks..

just because I like that block..

just added white or off white fabrics... to calm down the minty green batik...

Hmmm.. what to do with these now then.. they sure needed something...

so I started to crochet some snowflakes...

and it lay there for two more weeks.. not knowing what to do...

so I spilled out a jar of white buttons on it..

and yepp.. there it was.. :o)

So I sewed.. quilted small snowflakes....

added the crocheted snowflakes... the buttons...

but still there was something more to add..

TEXT!!!

I cut out templates with just paper and added paint with a sponge..

And there it was

My tribute.. or NOT...

to the cold winterdays we have had!!

All I can say is...

BRRRRRRRR.... :o)

And it suits me right now..

Snowstorm is going on right here...

Having fever and cough again...

and more cold days to come!!

SIGH!!!
