I´m home....

from both of my trips....
I had a wonderful time at Louise...
just sorry time did fly way too fast ...
needed one week more!!!

Bus Trip home went just fine...
didn't have to sit on the floor this time...

Washed some clothes and packed again for...
Surprise Road Trip with Mom!!

She came late Monday evening...
not knowing a thing of what we were up to..
and this is something my Mom have very hard to accept...
but she did fine... she had her little bag packed just as I said...
And on Tuesday morning the trip started to EAST!!!
That was all I said...

But when we had travelled about 15 Swedish miles (93 miles)
she started to talk about IKEA!!!
And yes she was right...
IKEA was the target for the day...
but we had one more surprise for her..
My Brother (lives in Stockholm) with his family drove
and joined us ... just sorry my second brother and family couldn't join us...
they are waiting their third child any day now... so they couldn´t come!!!
We timed perfectly.. and met at the entrance....
SURPRISE!!!
You should have seen her face...
Spent the day in Haparanda...
and the kids loved the visit
The Worlds largest Candy Store!!!!!
Candy World
Guess if they shopped...

After this.. the trip continued to her hometown Harads...
She haven't been there for a very very long time!!!
Both my Grandparents lived there... but they are all gone now....

My Brother have taken over our Grandparents (fathers side) home...
and they are going to use it for summer vacations...
and they have started some renovations...
The house is really special...
with beautiful ceilings and wonderful doors and windows...
When my Grandparents first came here from the South of Sweden ..
(Grandfather got a teachers job)
the house was soooo dark...
outside the windows there were planted pine and spruce to cover the windows
..so no light would come in!!!!

Strange or what!!!!
That was the first to go!!!
Some interior painting is still original..
you can see the brown around windows and on the brown door...
it was brown and dark inside tooo..

Oh ... here we have spent all my summers when I was a kid..
so many memories are from here..
Just happy ones!!!

We also had a little trip down
Memory Lane with Mom...

This cafe...
where they baked the most wonderful bread I know...
I often slept at my Grandparents ( mothers side)
and I was always served tea
with cinnamon sticks in special Green cups...
and with this sweet bread with butter and cheese...
and ahhh.... I was in heaven...
...Such sweet memories...
And this house is where my Mom grew up...
My Grandfather had a Garage and was a Blacksmith...
its the larger building...
My Mom was a bit disappointed of all the bushes and trees
that had grown up everywhere...
And she was right!!

Later that day.. we had prepared a Surprise Dinner..
in a city 5 Swedish miles (31 miles) away...
to an old 1700-century house ...
that they have restored and built a restaurant ...
"Norrigården" in Boden..

What a wonderful place!!!
Loved the painted walls.. it was very beautiful!
The food was so so delicious and the interior was absolutely wonderful!!!
Mom really was enjoying her day.. and we loved to spoil her some..
it use to be the other way around!!!

The third day we just spent together..doing nothing special...
had good food and rested...
Days did go fast this time too...
Mom is now at home ..hardworking at the farm..
think she regret going home!!!
Love you Mom.. take care!!
And Happy Birthday in advance!!

Tomorrow...
I will start working...
got these news Thursday...
so a lot needs to be taken care of...
so for now .. I don't really know what to feel!!!
Will be worst for Viktor ... a lot of time spent alone...
and I don't like that!

Well...
I hope everything will go really fine...
and that my finger will hold this time!!!

  3. What a lovely surprice. When I was a little girl I used to go to Sween in the summer with my grandparents. We always visited Happaranda, and I remember my favourite icecream: Piggelin :)

  4. Stina, thanks so much for taking me along for the day trip with Mom! I so love to see all things Swedish. The summer home looks much more Swedish now than it did with the dark wood, more what I would expect to see. Must be the influence of Carl Larson that has me thinking so. Nice that you were able to hold off the job until now. Happy birthday to Mom! :o)

  22. Wow! Thank you for sharing lovely family photos.
IKEA is a ideal spot in Tokyo area. A lot of Japanese love Swedish style living, so IKEA is a big deal in Japan now.*S* (even some people carry a blue IKEA bag as a fashion! *LOL*)

I have a lot of wonderful memories of visits to Norway and Finland once but I have not been to Sweden. I am from the North East of England beside the sea and we had strong ties with Scandinavia. I now live on the South West coast , quite different
