Angel Member need help!!!

Today I got a mail from Yvonne in Belgium...with the beginning...
"My Angels - A (little) disaster)"

My mind started to to think all kind of horrible things that could have happened to this quilt...
I know that she has worked really hard to quilt this for a show and pheeewww...

...so this is what Yvonne wants to alert you all to!!
She writes....

"Hi Stina,

I have a very sad story about my Angels Story quilt.
I want to tell you about it, so you and the other ladies working on their Angels don't make the same mistakes I did.

Last sunday, my quilt was totally finished, and I put him (or her?) in the washing machine (quilt for protection in a bedcover, cold water, short time, gentle swing ....)
I was almost in shock when I took him out again.

In Anni Downs' book is written how Anni quilted her Angels. She has no quiltstitches at all in de Angelblocks.
I was worried and I placed "a detached fly" here and there in my blocks.

You can see in the pictures attached that these "flies" were not enough ....

What did I do wrong?
The background fabric in the angel blocks was washed before using it. The other fabrics were not.
I used a 100 % cotton batting. I know it shrinks but I don't mind an "antique look".

So my quilt is finished in time for the exhibition, but I decided he will not hang there. I'm totally not pleased with the look. I will take out al the "flies" and I'll try to quilt al the angelblocks. I hope this helps!"

So you know this lady is pretty sad... :(

She washed the backgroud fabric because it was dirty and never thought of it nomore...
and what happends...all the other pieces shrink and not the background...
so the backgrounds are too big...

It sure is wonderful no matter what!!

...So this is a lady who needs help...

All I could think of is to quilt more in the Angelblocks...

And I so hope that someone out in blogland have some suggestions how to rescue this lovely quilt!!!

Deadlines and a prize!!

One deadline has just passed for all Angel Story Club Members...and now it´s time to aim for the next one!!! January the 1st ...then we will see a lot of fantastic quilts ready!!
Oh I know that there are sooooo many of you who have struggled to finish the tops...
Jo in Tas almost made it... Bjorg... oh this was horrible...she cut herself with the rotary cutter badly... I feel so sorry for her...LADIES...take care and be careful!!!Please take your time and visit the blogs under the Angel badge and check out their progress...
The blocks are wonderful... and the quilts.... they will be wonderful ... :)
Ok there were not so many who finished the tops...
Yvonne already had finished her top before joing the club...she is handquilting hers now...
Inger-Lise in Norway have her top finished... May Britt stayed up late at her birthday to finish her top...and I did finish in time for the deadline ...oh for that I´m grateful ;)
And I have promised a little prize for one who did finish in time...
And I won!!!
Oh...just kidding... ;)
Number one was the number my son chose...and who might that be....????

While I try to remember...I just wanted you to see some pictures from the other day...
It was a very cold morning...the first frost...

It does look like snow... Can´t belive this... could it be snow...already...think my eyes are fooling me...must be frost... think it is...I hope!! :)

And I have finally received my prize that I won at Quilt Taffy....

...a wonderful pattern on a lovely pincushion made of Kim Diehl... and can you see the lovely little kit she sent ...pink and green...this will be a wonderful pincushion for me... ;)

My Angel Story.... :)

I have felt the pressure on me the last week...
( thanks Inger Lise... ;) ) and finally I can say ...
...I am almost finished with my top... :)
I just have to figure out what to use for border...Hmmm...
I think I will have enogh fabric to make a scrappy border...and I think I have a green flower fabric from the same line of fabric...and there might be two larger pieces of some pink flower and paisley fabric left... So ...what to use...????
Ok ...that will be another days quandry...
I´m pretty pleased with myself today... :)
Wonder how it has been going for May Britt... I know that she has been on all four today struggeling with her pieces... better check her out... ;)

Is this messy enough???

Have to admit...it´s not so messy yet...but it will be...believe me...I´m just glad that I finally found my way to my sewingroom...

Cause the PRESSURE is on...
There is some lovely Angels beeing made around the world...take a look in Australia...and in Norway... and this my ladies is amazing...How in the world could she have been that fast???

More Angels...

Guess if I was tired the day after Cyber Stiching Day...
maybe I´m not as young as I think I am... ;)

Got 3 more members to Angel Story Club...first Nadine...and Peg...and Yvonne ... she posted me some pictures of her completed top ( Yes it´s finished...but not quilted) and some of her wonderful Angels... you will find some more here... and I also know that Inger Lise has started on hers...so take a look at her wonderful angels!!

Some of you are still hesitating to join...cause you haven´t started on them...but most of these quilters haven´t started on theirs...
All we want to have is our Angel Story Quilts... :)
No matter how long it takes... Ok for me it does...but I have worked on it for more than 2 years!!!

...and I have cut out most of the squares for the quilt...can´t wait to start with the layout...one of the moments I like the most...

...Today I started with new energy with my 4SQS...finished the background and started to draw some flowers...tried out some in fabric... back on track again...and it feels good!
We got a little sweet visitor for the night...
Viktors cousin...Jarl 3 years old wanted to have a sleep over at his Aunt and cousin...
and tomorrow the next "gang" is coming... my brother and his wife and their
3 children ( 8 and the twins will soon be 6) will stay the next night...Oh my ...where to put everybody... ;) Guess I will come up with something...!!
So NO sewing for some days now...but I want to wish you all a wonderful week and Happy Sewing!!!

Anni Downs...

Today I got mail from Anni Downs...writer of the fantastic book

"An Angels Story".

It is from this book we are making the angels we are so in love with...and are determined to finish!!

She loved the idea...and wrote this:

So I guess ...now we have her blessings and this will go like a dance to get this quilt together!!
Hope there are more of you that want to join... don´t be scared of the deadlines...just join and see where it leads...of course the prize will be drawn from the ones who are finished 1st of January 2009..but the biggest prize must be to have this gorgeous quilt finished!! Don´t you agree!! So join and we all support each other!!

Angel story... Challenge...

First of all...check out Lynette Andersons blog....she´s having a wonderful giveaway...this one you don´t want to miss!!

...Angel Story...
Ohh these angels...they have been a project going on way tooo long now...
I started mine at least 2 years ago...and have been working on them every summer... so has Marica...and we have been setting dates for finishing them...extended the deadline...and so on.. you get the point...and guess what they are STILL NOT FINISHED!!!
So when we had our last meeting...we decided to work on them... You know how it is to start a project you have put aside...you don´t remember how you had been thinking...and it get kind of tricky to start again...
And this time we set another deadline...knowing in my mind...that we could extend it this time too... ;)
Then May Britt made a comment on my blog and said that they were her bad conscience...so I challenged her to join us... and she did!!! And then Hanne, Anne Ida , Bjørg ( no blog) and Cathi wanted to join in!!
This is fantastic...more pressure ( I need that) ..so maybe this time I can´t put them away...and thats good...cause I really want them finished!!
I talked to Marica tonight and she will make a little "sign" for this Angelclub...
So if there are more people working on this one or will start it...join us...
This is the deal:
Top finished by 30th September...and quilt finished (quilted and binded) 1st of January 2009!!

So I will add this to my sidebar soon with links to all who joins...and I´d be happy if you mail me at kviltstina@gmail.com with your progress (and if you have no blog...we solve that someway)...so we all can help and support each other to finish this lovely quilt by the end of the year!! ...So I have started today...sat outside in the lovely weather ...and stitched one block finished...
...started another...
...and this is how far I have come...have all blocks finished...but not completed the stitchery on some... and I also have started to cut out the squares... so I´m a bit on the way!!
