The last walls...

in the yellow room...
from my exhibition in Skellefteå this summer....

This is a quilt made from one of the most fun challenges I have  had...
The Shirt project!!!
We had read about some ladies doing this In Australia some years ago..
could they so could we..:o))

We collected ten shirts each... and since we were five ( Marica, Cici, Kristina, Lotta and me)  it became 50 shirts!!!
We divided these equal among us...
and decided on the rules...
All 50 shirts had to be used in the quilt we made...
Just one fabric could be added...

And this is what I made...
( Oh you should see the other girls too.. they are wonderful)

"Fem Flickor ( Five Girls)"

Pattern by Cheri Saffiote Payne
And the quilt in the basket.. is a quilt I started with the leftovers from the shirts.. both on the back and front...
still not finished.. but will some day..:o))
And believe me.. I still have LOTS of scraps from those shirts...

(And you from Norway and Sweden might remember this since we have been in the local quilt magazines showing all the quilts..)

One time while visiting Louise in Östersund we started to sew one doll each..
and this is my version...

"Sarah Louise"
Sooo much fun we had that weekend!! :o)

And this quilt is another oldie....

Also a project shared with friends...
Louise in Östersund and Eugenie in Norway
We decided to sew stars to each other..
I sewed mine ( in my colors) and sent to Louise who sewed for me and sent to Eugenie...
who sewed for me and finally one day A large envelope was in my mailbox...
and then it was up to me to sew them together...

And of course I sewed stars for both Louise and Eugenie...
and they do have their quilts finished too..
Louise an America inspired quilt.. and Eugenies in pastels... :o)
This is how mine became

"My Stars"

And this is a quilt I gave my Brother and his wife Anna on their wedding day
Thanks for letting me borrow it ...:o)))

"The wedding quilt"

And during the show I exchanged the quilts a little so I hung my
Everyday Angels in the same corners as my brothers quilt...

"Everyday Angels"

pattern by the Chookshed ( I think..:o)

And this is a quilt I made for my Mother...
she do always think we are too far away... so I decided to change that..
So I collected the handprints from my brothers families and from mine...

and made this quilt with just Kaffe Fasset fabrics...

"Mothers quilt"

So now she can have us all around her..:o))

The quilt below is the the oldest quilt I had in the show... a quilt that I made for my dads 60th birthday....ohh.. look at those fabrics.. :o))  talking about memory lanes... sweet memories.. and so is this quilt for dad too...

Some Pictures from his life transferred on fabric..
My christening... Dad just as a little boy...  Newborn sibling...
Mom and dad taking a rest in the haymaking... Early days working in the woods...
Castle Rushen at the Isle of Man... where Our relatives lived during the viking ages...
The beard he had when he came home from France.. and still have..lol..
early days  working with floating timber....

"My Fathers Quilt"

It doesnt show so much but I quilted a message for him on the quilt with runics all around the quilt... and well he says he have read it..:o))) Im not sure.... :o)

And finally  a quilt Viktor and I worked on together when he was about 5-6 years old...

He picked the fabrics... and wow he was so sure where to put them...
maybe he will be a quilter ..:o)))

Oh so much fun we had building all the trucks and cars...
Pattern from an Australian designer... think it was called Adams Garage...

"Viktors Garage"

And I totally forgot to take photos of the quilts that was in the basket..
but maybe someday... I will show them...
hmm.. because the one in blues and greens... are needing some help to be fixed!!
It is so worn!!! :o)

Well I hope you have enjoyed all the quilts....
Have some pictures left from what I had for sale at the show...  and then it will be all back to normal again here in Kviltstina Land..:o)))

See you!!
have to get back working on my Schnibble!!!

Rural Jardin fabrics this time... :o)

She is excused.. she worked hard with her lovely little purses...
Both with the first one... with a pattern that wasn´t correct...
and with the second one....
The second one is sooooo CUTE..:o)

Think I will have to try to make one... :o)
After that she started to sew on a Tilda doll...

Meanwhile I sewed my little patches together... and sewed on the borders....
working with the lovely fabric line
Nicey Jane...

While I sewed she started to plan next weeks project...

So be sure to see to that she sews some...
because I really want to see this one finished...
It will be wonderful...

and just waited for the right time and place..
and now it was...the right time and place...

But I did...:o)

It is all quilted and bound...
WOW...
Will share a picture of the quilt tomorrow...
it was too bad light in the sewing room when I was finished...

Well.... it is almost finished then...

A most wonderful weekend!!!
Maybe I scared some bugs away with having some fun!!!

Sewingweekend...

but in a new way....
via webcam... :o)

The colds stopped me from going to Maricas house
where we was supposed to be..
but got a bright idea.. why not try to connect  and bring my friends
( Marica, Cici, Kristina and Lotta)
to my house via webcam...
and it worked brilliant!!! :o)
It was hard to get some nice photos of my friends...
but I hope I can get them on picture later today..:o)

but you get the point..
it was sooo nice to be able to take part in
the chatting and seeing what they made...
and hear them... :o)

We sewed  until about 8 pm... when I started to quit for the day...
and so did they... but before that
they teased me with some pictures of what they had for dinner
cooked by Maricas husband Roger!!

You know.. I was supposed to go away..and MY GUYS always eat...
"Pannkaka" when I am away....
and that isnt my favourite... and that was what was supposed to be at the table this weekend...
but there was some nice leftover for me...;o)
Earth hour light savings... at 8 30 pm... and after that ... no sewing ...
just the bed... :o)

Made some blocks during the day for a swap....
with Louise and Marica...
so finally girls...
they will be on the way!!
And I started something new...

November 1, 2009

Where was I ???

Hmmm...
Quiltweekend  last weekend
and a challenge with scraps from Marica...

She told us before we went to take small scraps with us..
so okidoki I grabbed my small pieces and
wondered what could be made from them... :o)

How was I to know it was going to be something
I definetly needed!!!!
Marica had prepared small bags with
snaphooks, cute buttons...and a tiny little flower...
And this is what it became...
...Lanyards....
Thanks for a fantastic idea Marica..
I have used mine all the time since then...
and it is GREAT!!! :o)

Earlier that week I got this in the mail...
...a fantastic pre Christmas gift...
Pink scissorfob.... Christmas Pincushion..
and sweet red buttons... :o)
from Sandy at
in Argentina...
Thankyou so much Sandy...!!

Ok.. after showing my picture of the quilt in the machine the other day.. I have had lots of questions regarding the black "thing" ontop of my quilt!!!

When we went to Norway last month
I visited my Machine Doc...
and he fixed my machine so I could quilt..Thankyou for that..
but then he also had this ...
Ok.. I had looked on it before..and asked and you know all that kind of questions..Is it good...does it work??? And so on..
So he said.. take it home and test...:o)
And so I did...finally.. after backproblems..and whatever...
So did I like it???
Definitely not at first...
didn't get the hang of it...
(need that DVD... that was supposed to come along with it)
Does anyone else have the Fab-U-motion???
TIPS thankyou!!! :o)

But after a while I kind of got along...
and best of all I could sit pretty long times behind the machine
quilting with no stress on arms and shoulders...
So I shall quilt one more to test..
but I think I like it! :o)

Took my schnibble out for some air today....
and took pictures...l
..and I have hanged my new quilt on its
place in the livingroom/kitchen...
Do you think husband have seen it yet??? ;o)

Hope for another and better week than the last one..
WITHOUT nasty surprises...
To make long story very short..
Make sure friends are friends...
my daughter found out this the hard way!!
HUGS to you all...

March 15, 2009

What a weekend!!!!

This was a very much needed weekend...
filled with a lot of fun...
first of all my birthday... with so many birthday wishes from you!!!
Thankyou so much!!! :)
And to top that day... what a lucky day...I did win two giveaways!!!
One here and one here...
GOSH...two wonderful giveaways!!!
And I was the lucky one on both of them... >:D<>
For the swap we decided to sew six or eight blocks each in colours/patterns of our choice ...
and this is my green Tin Man blocks...
...think I will add sashing in cream and a corner square in some colour between the blocks... will have to play a little bit more with them...
Showed Viktor the blocks tonight..and he loved all the green guys!!!
So you did a fantastic work on the blocks!!
Thankyou!!!! :)

And this is Maricas blocks...
...she chose Churndash blocks...and wow this quilt is going to be just wonderful...
I definetly need to make a churndash quilt...
love these blocks... :)

And this is Cici´s blocks...
...and dont you just love these blocks...the pattern is great!!!

And Lotta she gave us all a challenge...to work with some jewel fabrics...
but I think Cicis blocks were more challenging for me... black and white... never wear and almost never use them... the jewel ones I like to dress in...sooo they were a little bit easier...
This is her blocks...
... A Vitamin Kick!!!

The only block´s missing was Kristina´s... will be fun to see them later...

Thankyou girls for a wonderful swap!!!
And as if this wasn´t enough...
Lotta made us all a surprise...
She made us all a Blockholder to keep all the blocks organized during the swap...
and I was the last one to know since I was last on the list... :)
What a surprise!!!This is my Blockholder/keeper... :)
Thankyou so much Lotta!!!

Think this was the most "quiet" quiltweekend ever... :)
Lottas machine was at the Machinedoctor´s...so she handsewed , I stitched all the time... and it was just Maricas machine that was buzzing...
Hmmm...think I will post these photos later...or maybe Marica will post some...
anyway...
hope that you all have had a wonderful weekend...
I sure did!!! :)
Quiltweekends are the BEST!!!
