Finished my UGLY!!

so pleased with how I could turn that ugly piece of wool into this...
Lots of work..but Oh I had FUN.. all the way!! :o)

It became a Tea Cosy... :o))

when I had that piece of wool in my hand..
both smelly and very thick.. I thought and thought what it could be done into...
it could hold heat for a long time... yes it could...
to sit on.. very warm.... but the easy way out..lol.. hmmm...
but...one thing I have wanted and a very much needed thing in our household
was a teacosy... so I decided on that!

All materials are recycled...
shirts, pants, old fabrics, pearls....
except for the batting on the backside piece...
even the pearls are recycled from old clothes... :o)

Even the thread used is old..
found a very old silk thread on spool at work
.. and tried it out..
and it worked..
even in my new machine..:o))
And that was the trickiest part to do..
the freehand quilting... on the thick wool with a cotton layer on the inside..
PHEEWW.. but we did it ...
Zonnie and me!! :o)

Still at home with this autumns biggest flu!!
...BUT ...
I am test sewing ...have a lot to learn on my new machine..
LOTS!!!!

Progress...

 with the YUCK!! :o)

Sewed a lot yesterday.. but it sure takes time..
The felt is rather thick...
so it is hard to work with..  and tough on the hand..
and not the easiest to get nice stitches on...

But last night I had the first part finished
the light wasn't that good and I was tired ... so more photos later..
just a little peek for you!
As you see .. a lot of inspiration ...
from the fabulous designer Sue Spargo...
Have wanted to go a class with her..
but since it aint never ever going to happen...
I try it my own way..:O))

I am also trying to use only recycled fabrics, ribbons and pearls...
Just the threads are new... :O))

Well.. back to some sewing!! :o)

Wool weekend in Kalix

Our first get together was held in a rainy and Autumn like Kalix in the North of Sweden..  Had in mind to take lots of photos.. but you know how it is..
excitement goes first...

Lots of talking and getting to know each other...
some of us had had a long way to travel...
6 girls... from the north of Sweden .. different ages..
but with the same interest... CRAFT!!

First assignment to be done... was yarn dye and Nuno felting....

We started to dye yarn...
this was fun .. but it took quite a bit of time to get all the yarn dyed...
But we are more than happy over the result...
Very nice colours...

A little lottery was made ...
and the two that came home with me was the light blue and light purple... :o))
These will be used in later projects ...
The second project for the day was nuno felting...

And I am not sure If I shall love it or hate it..
It was fun ..but the result aint pretty..:O))

Ok ..
First to lay out all the wool in different directions... and then add a sort of fabric.. and this fabric was a bit thick and a bit rough...
and then wet it ... roll it up..  wet it some more... put in plastic bags...
and a potatoe sack on the outside .. and then bang it in the table for 5 minutes...
Great for releasing aggressions..;O))

... then check if it had started to felt.. and continue to work it..if for at least 15 minutes...
And the result...
A PRETTY piece of felt..lol...
Well NOT!!!

Our teacher calls it decorative pleats... :o))

So wish me luck to be able to make something pretty out of this..:O)

Today in the mail I got THE two most wonderful gifts
... but more of that tomorrow..:O))

Fusible webbing...

This is driving me crazy!!!!! :#

I want a fusible webbing that dont do like this...
...this is the kind of webbing we have in Sweden...it is called Vliesofix...
and it works super when it is fresh and not rolled one or two times
( when going to classes or something like that)...
but after a couple of times the layers start to separate from each other and you have to pin everything together...and not to mention how fiddling it is when you are supposed to iron it on fabric!!!
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

So please give me some suggestions to other brands that don´t behave like this!!!!
Tell me what you use...please...!! :)

Last night I started to fiddle with my "Wool Garden" blocks...
and finally, I have these three finished.... :)
...so now I have some blocks prepared for prim stitching.... ohhh I love those stitches...
Found a perfect pair of scissors ( in my drawer...:)
...to cut the wool with and it saves my hand too...
totally forgot I had this one... bought it when I sewed my frayed quilt...
so it is good to look through the drawers from time to time... :)

Had another ....Aarrrrggghhhh...moment today...
When I went to the postoffice to send two quilttops for a Bushfire project...I found out that my creditcard had been exposed for skimming... and was blocked... :@
Dont people have something sensible to do instead!!
Sigh....
Hope the rest of the day will go smoothly... :)
